The Magic Finger by Roald Dahl

The Magic Finger is a short, funny story by Roald Dahl, illustrated by Quentin Blake. The Gregg family next door love to go hunting, and the young girl who narrates the tale cannot stand it, no matter how politely she asks them to stop.

When the Greggs push her too far, her temper sets off the Magic Finger, and suddenly the hunters find themselves turned into birds and living in a nest, while the ducks they hunted take their place. A quick, satisfying read with a clear message about kindness to animals, it suits newly independent readers.
