Magic Finger by Roald Dahl

The Magic Finger is Roald Dahl’s short, mischievous tale about a young girl who cannot bear the hunting trips her neighbours take every weekend. The Gregg family set off each Saturday to shoot wildlife, and when her temper finally boils over she points her special finger at the whole family, with astonishing results.

Soon the Greggs find themselves sprouting wings while the ducks they hunted take over their home. Told with Dahl’s trademark wit and a clear sense of fairness, it is a quick, funny read that also gets children thinking about how we treat animals, and it works well for newly confident readers and for reading aloud.
